Sunpro water temp gauge install?
« on: July 17, 2014, 07:58:48 PM »
I am replacing my water temp gauge in my 79 invader with a Sunpro mechanical gauge # 8217, required metric adaptor #7574, when I install the adaptor it feels like it is bottoming out on the inside where the original gauge made its seal, anyone install this setup? Just wondering if i just tighten this adaptor and it seals or do i need any sealent or copper washer etc? thanks for any help

I put a sunpro gauge in my 80 Invader and found that the nut would hit before tightening the bulb in place.  Ended up using a liberal application of Teflon tape and taking a dremel to the bottom face of the hex head.

Sounds like you did not use the adaptor!

I have the install completed, the tubing is very small and you must avoid kinking it! I added a small copper tube to attach the gauge tubing to, also put some shrink wrap over it at gauge end, there is a lot of excess so I mounted a detergent bottle cover to wrap it around
