What tool are you using to remove flywheel?

Hi guys, I'm trying to do my crank seals, I can't get the flywheel off, I think its the flywheel.. I have tried a 3 jaw puller. There is 3 bolt holes.., I'm not sure what kind of puller I would use here? I'll attach pic. Thanks

The harmonic balancer does the job but there are specific flywheel puller tools as well for snowmobile/ATV engines that are easier to deal with that will come with the right bolts.  With the harmonic balancer you need to get the right bolts and washers that are strong enough, and make sure that they are threaded in perfectly even.

They can be tight.  Do you have an impact wrench?  Generally if they are stubborn we tighten them up with the impact wrench and then give them a good rap with a lump hammer right down the center axis of the crank shaft.  This works the same for the clutch on the other end of the crank.   Feel free to give the shaft a shot of PB Blaster and give it a few hours to a day to soak before trying again.

DO NOT USE HEAT!!!  make sure the 3 bolts are grade 8, sometimes you need to let it sit a day or 2 with it tightened down as tight as possible. Don't thread the 3 bolts in too far as they can damage the coils under the flywheel.  Use a dead blow hammer to give it a good rap on the end of the center shaft.

I'm about ready to give up. I've tried everything, I'm on my second puller because I broke one. Im using an impact, tried the dead blow hammer. May have to take to machine shop since this is incredibly frustrating. Thanks

I was about ready to give up on mine too.  I had to get at the condenser to replace it.  I had lost spark in one cylinder.

Anyways, after bending the bolts I realized I had the puller backwards.  Once I put the flat side of the puller facing out, I tightened it by hand as tight as I could get it without breaking something, stood back, swore a little, then lit a cigarette.  I then tightened one of the bolts maybe 1/4 of a turn.  After sitting there looking at it for a few minutes it "popped" off by itself.  I made sure that the bolts were all lined up good and of equal distance to the stator.  I guess it took that much sustained pressure on it.

You guys probably wont approve of this lol... but the way I ended up having to get this off was to put full tension on the puller and then pound the hell out of it with a heavy ballpeen hammer..It popped finally. I am pretty sure I didnt damaged anything as it is all back together and running again. Thanks
