440 Invader won't start
« on: December 12, 2013, 10:20:09 PM »
I have a 440 Invader that has been stored for about nine months. I put new gas in it and it ran for a few moments. Now it won't fire. It doesn't seem that the hand primer pump moves any gas. Are those rebuildable ? Is there anything else that I should look at ?

sadly the primers last about a year or two because of the crap they put in the gas. They aren't rebuildable but only cost about $420 to replace them. Sometimes you can get them to work by putting some oil or penetrating oil in them, but I don't know that I would trust them afterwards.

Check the fuel lines to see if they have any gas in them (to the carbs) I have had the pulse line that goes from the crankcase to the fuel pump collapse when someone used a rubber hose instead of the regular fuel line. If there are any leaks in the fuel line from the tank to the pump. it will draw air and not pump fuel.

Also, if the fuel pump was rebuilt, there is a hole in the gasket that is commonly missing. If it is not there, the anti-siphon valve will not work and it will not pump fuel.  Could be a stuck needle and seat inside the carbs too.
