1980 Kawasaki Invader 340
« on: November 22, 2012, 04:26:18 PM »
Well buying a invader 340. Seems a pretty good deal, buying it for 450 with a trailor. He tells me it runs good and everything works. I'll see how it runs when it gets here. Can anyone tell me anything about the 340's?

The 340 Invader is my favorite sled. It spins up quickly and is just a blast to drive.

Can't go wrong for that kind of money man!

Most everything is repairable... Big expensive time consuming items are belly pan, motor and track...

Track skid frame usually tells you how much the people love there sleds! same goes for hyfax wear strips and wear bars on skis...

Cheers and good luck!

We want pictures!

I'll get pics tomorrow. It needs sliders. But everything minus seat is pretty good. It needs the carbs clean and new plugs. It does run.

1980 was the last year for the 340 Invader. They are geared lower to make better use of the smaller motor, and thus don't have quite the top speed of the 440, but they get there a LOT quicker!! Most ice drag sleds use the 340 gears for a quicker takeoff.

My first Kawi was a 340 (1980 too) I was mighty impressed with it and that started me in getting the dreaded Mad Kawi disease...

Back in the day, as they say, the 340 Invaders weren't allowed to race in the 340 class but raced in the 440 class, at least up here, apparently it wasn't fair :P

I have a nice 340 in my carport right now and people drop by and wax poetically about how nimble and fast those old Invaders were.  I can't wait to get out and try mine out.

Nice looking 340 you have there!
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy!

Ohh yea i heard they are pretty quick sleds. You should put a pic up of yours in your carport! And thanx. Im in the process of putting new sliders on and finding a carb for it. Do you know what oil i should use in the gearcase?

gearcase should be ATF fluid (the chaincase going to the track)  and 10w30 for the oil pump gearcase on the motor
