1000ft radar runs almost here!!!!
« on: January 15, 2015, 06:10:35 PM »
Decided to enter the Interceptor (and others) in another 1000ft radar run this Sunday (Portage Lake).  I want to make sure I take full advantage of the opportunity "sooner" rather than "later".  The radar runs I plan to run at Sabbatus the end of February are still on, but with my luck...  we might get a late winter thaw!!!  I take no chances!!!  Almost a four hour trip (one way) so it's gonna make for a long, tiring day.  Anyone want to place bets?  Again, here are the contenders...

                                                                    82' Interceptor (stock)   530 liquid   (144 picks)
83' Liquifire (headwork and 38mm mics)   440 liquid  (144 picks)
                                                                    83' Blizzard 9700 (stock)  521 liquid   (144 picks)
                                                                    82' Blizzard 9500 (stock)  440 liquid   (240 picks)
                                                                    83' Vmax 540     (stock)   (144 picks)

Stock gearing...  I'll be racing and my father will be running the videos...   will post results and vids next week!

This is all I could fit in the trailer!!  The 83' Indy 600 and 86' Formula Plus have to stay home.   Sorry guys.

Just got back from a long weekend of racing...  Raced all the above mentioned sleds without any breakdowns!  When you are the guy racing AND the pit crew...  it gets pretty hectic.  The Interceptor was strong, but It was giving me a hard time half track.  Something is up with either the primary or the secondary.  The clutches were not shifting out completely and the speed flattened out mid track.  So, there was more speed to be had...   just need to do a little problem hunting.  I got some great 60ft holeshots and will get some videos on here soon...   some of you might be surprised at these numbers!  All speeds were taken via GPS.  Here ya go for 1000ft....   best of three runs each sled

                                                             83' Blizzard 9700............   87.7  mph
                                                             83' Vmax ........................   85.0
                                                             82' Blizzard 9500............   83.0
                                                             82' Interceptor ..............    82.5    (limited)
82' Liquifire ....................    81.1   The underdog!!!!  Love to see this!

Good stuff. Really closely spaced on the speeds. I'm not particularly a Polaris guy, just curious if you have had any time or luck getting the Indy 6 overheating problem solved, and maybe see how it stacks up next time. I know, it sounds like your pit crew (you) is busy enough!

You must have them all dialed in really well, other than the tweaking to the Interceptor you mentioned. How did the Blizzards hook up? Man, you were right...my "new to me" 82 9500 is back together after an end to end refurbishment, and I got it out on what little snow we had for a bit. It has a virtually new Kimpex Aggressor track, no studs.....yet. If ever a sled needed studs, this is it.

Great results from all your sleds Tory......that's a lot of hard work, tuning and preping you did to get those results..!!

Sorry i couldn't make it this time around....... :(

Knew the 9700 would be up there.....but our beloved Interceptor did well considering it's a year older....and it was it's only year produced....

Imagine if Kawasaki would of had a few years to fine tune the Interceptor...or even shove a 3 cylinder in it....!!!

Again, congrats......well deserved !!

nice job....i thought the interceptor would be in the hunt....another year or so of production and maybe they would've used some decent carbs and kick some a ;D

It is still my favorite sled and it handles ten times better than any of those Blizzards!
