I can't find that part in the parts manual.  Only the one under the pipes.

I don't think the heat shield is original equipment.  My parts manual doesn't show one either and I have never seen another one.

i have the manual for the 81 ltd and mine doesnt show it either. most manuals have the breakdown pics for the electric start. mine isnt elec start and if there was a battery and tray it wouldnt fit. im convinced based on the quality and the mounts for it that it has to be original. not 100% but close. heres a better pic...

there is also a Q sticker on the headlight latch. anyone seen that before? it is as old as the sled for sure. it might even be cleared into the paint. it has the emblem from the PA dealer it was born from under the windshield.
