What Model Clutch Puller?
« on: February 16, 2017, 10:36:53 AM »
I have a new clutch puller 57001-3517 that I acquired in a grab-bag of parts.  I have no need for it but would like to know what model it is for so I can sell it.

My book says SB340A2  & 440A5 so it appears to be for a Drifter clutch.

Maybe I'll have to keep it then.  I'm sure I'll get an '81 Drifter eventually.

Yup, there it is in the Supplemental Shop Manual for the "81.

Thanks for the input.

 Sumpthin'....just...isn't...right....here. :(
In the picture, the bottom puller is for the Kawasaki drive clutches...metric threads in the middle of the puller.
I know the 79-80 Drifters used the arctic hex clutch...the part # for the puller is 57001-3511.
Finally, the 81 Drifters got the Kawi drive clutch.
ALL of the Invader manuals list the puller # as 57001-3502...I assume the Intruders did too.
Why would Kawi come up with a different #???....3517??
I see that it is listed as the puller for the 81 Drifters....
But the picture of your puller, with the threads near the bolt head....is never gonna work on a Kawi clutch.. ???
Was there something REALLY weird with the 81 Drifter clutch???

Could it be related to the somewhat unusual negative offset of -0.200 inches that the Invaders, Intruders, LTD clutches had?
The suggested Comet replacement clutch for the 79-80 Drifters is a flush mount clutch...which makes sense to match the Arctic hex used originally...
Did Kawi have to make a slight change to the drive clutch for the Drifter engine??

My book says SB340A2  & 440A5 so it appears to be for a Drifter clutch.

This is from the 1989 parts retail price guide.  680 pages

I also found it in the parts manual for the 81 Drifter so it confirms kawheads answer.
