Found Fix For Faded Belly Pan!

 I was reading a Polaris Ranger forum and they were discussing how to restore the faded plastics on the Ranges. Their solution was to use a heat gun to bring the color back.
 I thought I would give this a try on a mid 80's Arctic Cat pan and the picture is the results. Was really simple and I just did a quick test to try it.............pretty impressive results!

is it as simple as waving the heat gun on the surface ? or is there a set up to final finish ie. sanding ? any liquids?

I use satin black Krylon Fusion paint for plastic with spectacular results.  I’ve used it on almost every plastic part, even the gas tank!  It works great, but you need to be careful not to spill gas on it...

I was looking for the Krylon but ended up using Rustoleum on the fuel tank.  I have spilled gas and have been able to clean it up without detriment to the paint.  On the last couple of projects I have been using Duplicolor primer as the base coat on the plastics and find that it adheres quite well.

I had a gas cap fail and got gas on the painted tank.  I didn't notice it right away so the gas was on it for awhile.  It dulled the paint so it was flat instead of satin finish.  I cleaned it really well, masked it touched up the dull spot and it was as good as new. 

The plastic parts were first painted around 8 years and over 1000 miles ago.  The painted plastic still looks like new.
