57001-3502 clutch puller dimensions
« on: March 28, 2019, 09:23:29 AM »
Hello,

I am looking to make a clutch puller (57001-3502) for a 1978 Kawasaki intruder and was hoping someone who has the same one or has made there own could provide me with some rough dimensions. I'd like the know the length and diameter of the sections indicated by the red arrow, see attached picture.

Thank you,
CB96

Here is some info from a previous thread.

Are you sure you don't want to just buy one?
They are only around 20-25 bucks from places like Denniskirk.com
75 SnoJet Astro SS, 79 Kawasaki Invader 440 (two of them), 81 Scorpion Sidewinder, 82 Blizzard 9500, 83 Yamaha Vmax 540, 97 MXZ 670....and holding...for now.

I am impressed by anyone who can fabricate a good tool.

Before I owned a clutch puller I took our first Kawasaki to the local Arctic Cat dealer to have the clutch removed.  It was well worth the $12 I paid just for the benefit of seeing the process done once by a professional.  Then I was not sure that an aftermarket puller would be suitable quality - but i took a chance and bought one from Dennis Kirk.  In the 100 some-odd times that I have used the puller since I have never regretted that purchase.  And we are still using that first puller.

We even bought a puller for the Drifter clutches - remarkably we have not used that puller even once.
Intruders:  1978, 1979, 1981 Custom (Pink)
Invaders:   1980 440
Projects:    1981 Invader 440

I would really like to buy one but after it is shipped to Canada and exchange is applied I am generally looking at paying North of $100.

I'm going to take another stab at finding a Canadian supplier for it.

Worse case scenario i'll end up making one unsuccessfully and shell out $100 anyway

Thank you for the help, I should have kept searching before posting

The small end is .432 X 1.25 long, next is .580 X 1.50, then the thread (18.0mm X 1.5) is 1.25 long with an OAL of 7.60.  If you try it make sure you use good steel and the threads are smooth and on the plus size side "aka not sloppy" and the leading end is rounded.

Welcome to the site!!

Reminds me of a saying we have at work “Why buy it for $7 when you can make it yourself for $92 worth of craft supplies?”  Haha

Looks like they can be had here for $40:  https://www.amazon.ca/MTC-Kawasaki-Engines-Invader-Intruder/dp/B00Y8FHX5I/ref=mp_s_a_1_22?keywords=kawasaki+clutch+puller&qid=1553803589&s=gateway&sr=8-22
