Primary and Secondary Clutch

(1/1)

Fergus883:
What is your opinion on the Kawasaki clutches they used on the Interceptor. I see they are a flt weight design  and the secondary had a reverse cam with buttons instead of rollers. Are they easy to work on and do they work ( up shift/downshift) as expected or is their a bog in them?
Belt life good?  No slippage?

Let me know

It's the same clutch they used on most of their sleds but it did have a couple small changes over the years.  They are very reliable but like most things they should be cleaned from time to time.  Alignment is very important. One thing to remember is that Kawasaki made great trail sleds.  After the Sharks were dropped Kawasaki never again built a full on race sled.  The clutches can be trail tuned fairly simply but full on race tuning there are better.  If you have an Interceptor, what number is it??

The Kaw clutches work great on a stock sled, some guys have success modifying them but they are definitely limited.  I just upgraded both of my kaws to Polaris clutches.
