1979 Drifter 440 Carb Swap
« on: February 15, 2021, 11:48:03 AM »
So I have noticed some of the higher end 440 variants run larger carbs on them versus the single Mikuni VM32 that mine came stock with.  Assuming I keep with the single carb layout, can I swap out to a larger carb like the VM34 or VM36 for a performance bump?  I not sure what all differences come with the better performing sleds as I'm sure its more than just larger carbs with better jetting.  This is my first sled and I'm slowly getting more and more addicted to these vintage sleds.

As long as the bolt pattern is the same it would not be hard to try.

If you try a bigger carb on the Drifter  Let us know how it turns out.
The stock exhaust might be too restrictive to gain much.
