New member 1980 LTD Invader
« on: March 28, 2021, 08:29:35 AM »
Good morning members from Ontario ,CDN . I am eager for the experience of other members to tell me a bit more about this sled.
I have been reading your posts for weeks I just purchased a 1980 Kawasaki invader LTD it was a barn find that sat for 22 years .I’m in the process of restoring it and I noticed pulling the motor out it is a black motor it is a 4/6 , but the magneto has a ringgear on it and the housing has a plate to bolt a starter on now what I’ve been reading on your post this wasn’t an option , I was wondering is this a special order because it does have the magneto housing which mounts the two coils on it as well I’m going to make an electric start it’s very simple now. The other thing that is weird this invader has a 1/8 fibreglass painted black windshield on it I’ve only ever seen poly carbonate windshields I’m kind of puzzled on this I have never seen or read anything more about this..

I bought this sled from a guy who had it 25 years ago bought it online off eBay in Michigan brought it over to Canada drove it for two years and then put it in his barn ever since I bought it for $250 Canadian he had the ownership but never transferred it in his name lost the ownership and I’m hoping it’s not a big deal for me to get it ownership for the sled.

 Thanks ArcticInvader

Welcome to the site!  Judging from the registrations over the last couple years there are plenty of Kawasaki sleds in the great white north.  The 4/6 came with a flywheel with a ring gear.  I am not aware of an electric start kit but I wonder if the Intruder electric start system would just bolt on?  The black fiberglass windshield is aftermarket. We have a member on here that was making them for a while.  A genuine windshield would have PN 39154-3510 on it or for an optional high one the PN is 39154-3512.  Both are very hard to find.
