NOS Invader "High Performance Mod Kit"
« on: August 16, 2021, 10:47:39 AM »
After searching for years and years I FINALLY found some Invader cylinders that I am certain were actually ported by Kawasaki as part of the kit.  They came with NOS kit pipes  8).  I haven't taken the time to measure them, but at first glance the porting appears to be "light".

Would be interested in knowing the numbers that those produce compared to the underwhelming aaen numbers

I'm currently running a set on my 81' Invader, I don't have any dyno numbers but I can tell you that my butt dyno says that it's faster.  I suspect it would be very similar to the power a stock 4/6 makes.

The 81 with the kit pipes and Polaris clutches is noticeably faster than the 4/6 with Aaen pipes I had a few years back.  This had more to do with the clutches than the pipes though.  The Aaen pipes had an extremely narrow power band, that in combination with the stock Kawi clutches and their known issues made it nearly impossible to tune.

"...the stock Kawi clutches and their known issues..."

Could you enlighten me on those issues so I'll know what to look for when I go through them?

It’s a relatively poor design, nothing you can do to fix it.  The Kaw clutches work good on a stock sled, but anything more than that they show their weakness.  The Aaen clutch tuning book explains the design.
