More Treasure Discovered
« on: August 24, 2021, 07:23:32 PM »
In one way it is kind of sad and in another way it can be pretty exciting - both stem from the fact that we have a lot of Kawasaki parts - certainly more than I am mentally able to keep track of.  And every now and again, as I am looking for one thing I discover a treasure of some sort or another.  Today I was routing around for an Intruder crankcase and ended up tripping over this excellent Invader bottom end.  I guess the Intruder will wait for another day.

Well, it happened again.  I had to move a crate earlier today and found yet another Invader engine!  She is a bit dusty, but rolls over smoothly.  So my gut tells me that there is hope for this one.  It just might mean that I will have to add another project to my project list.

Discovered another pair of gems this evening.  Looking under the bench I stumbled on a pair of Intruder cylinders that measure like new.  I think that these are going to be part of an 82 build.

I've been finding treasures that I didn't know (or remember) recently as well...   A while ago, I picked up a set of NOS 4/6 LTD rings in a bag with the little Kawasaki part number tag, it was a great find at a swap meet.  I was putting together my 4/6 motor and went to install the rings and found them to be too large...I was disappointed that they weren't really 4/6 rings, but elated to find that they were NOS Interceptor rings!  Score!

I was debating if I wanted to use my last full set of NOS 4/6 pistons and rings or if I wanted to use aftermarket.  I opted for the NOS setup, I figured "can't take it with ya!".  I'm glad I did, a few days later I was digging for other parts found a box with another full set of NOS 4/6 pistons and rings!

This week I'm feeling "Kawasaki Rich".   ;D
