Speed question?
« on: January 18, 2013, 12:15:49 PM »
My uncle last year got his 583 Ski-doo MXZ rebuilt, and he had it bored out to a 660. Will my 340 invader keep up to him most of the way till he goes WOT?

I have a 99' MXZ670, and my 440 Invaders won't come even close to touching it in a drag race.

you'll be surprised how well they keep up with newer sleds on trails... just watch out for big moguls

Moguls = bumps...  The 30 year old suspension doesn't handle the bumps as well as the newer stuff.

If your out trailing with your uncle, you shouldn't have any problem keeping up, as long as the trails are fairly smooth, and there aren't a lot of high speed straight-aways.

That safari doesn't stand a chance!

Oh ok got it. We usually ride in fields, ditches and snow covered roads.

For the record... My sons 1 cylinder élan will smoke my nephews 2 cylinder élan.  My nephew probably has about a hundred pounds on him... But they both blow away my 1975 alpine twin track.  640 cc's of slowwww.  So on the upside you can beat me!! :-[

my stock 81 440 invader ran 55 mph in a 500 ft radar run on clear lake last sat,no studs and slick track,so in a short, twisty trail he wont smoke you too bad.

Too many variables get in the way  to give an accurate guess.  'It's not the destination, but the trip to get there'

All my sleds will go the maximum speed limit on the trails and lakes per the DNR enforced speed limit laws...

well the 340 definately will not .the interceptor would give it a really good run. BUT the HP difference is large . the 660 bored out rig is probably pushing over 100 ponies and if thier clutching is good say goodby. i have seen a few kawi's with an earlier model long travel rail and of course a different track. the ride was much, much better.
