You had a way better sledding season than we did here.

Sleds are back in summer storage. Oh well.  Snow is mostly gone but we at least saw a few piles of snow as we drove through the Adirondacks.  The largest and most impressive pile was at the base of the ski jump hill in Lake Placid.

Interceptor, Gixxer, Sprocket - did you get a chance to check your PMs?  Didn't hear anything back so not sure whether or not you like country music.

The T7 bottom end cases Kawasaki race department machined with a milling machine the top surface off say 1/2” then they made a plate to match up with their cylinders that plate got welded onto the cases time consuming, but it can be done.

I will say the trailing arms should be round and not square or oval shape. You can make a pretty stiff round trailing arms out of chromoly that will look factory the Kawasaki spindles the factory looks a little on the weak side that’s where I would use something like the 79’ ski doo ifs Sno pros have you can buy that stuff from Margo race chassis shop they are in Wisconsin. As for the suspension & track that’s on you close to original but in rubber racing track is a 15x106 soucy track with a Wahl brothers 106” suspension skid now add the lube kit with it. If you need a gas tank or a lube tank made out of aluminum reach out. I’d buy the ski blank material or buy the narrow skis from Wahl brothers. If have to ask yourself how close to factory you want to build. It’s like the handle bars to I made it so you can take off the wrecked bars and put on new ones. Once you decide what is most important to you then build it. Hopefully I don’t come off wrong but I mean well for anyone that wants to build whatever they want and not get discouraged from people that are so stuck on themselves saying they are the only ones. Keep us posted

The thing about Al Enno is he can say his stuff is legal for eagle river but he has never raced or anyone has raced his Kawasaki sno pro’s at eagle river period. Both sleds I built raced around on the track at eagle river a few years back for the legend laps no other Kawasaki sno pro shark has been on that track since 1977 with the factory team. So if Al Enno wants to say his are legal prove it until then I call it bullshit. Al has always come off wrong to others that want to build race sleds he’s not the only person that can build sleds. Most builders don’t like the competition well tough shit I say build it. Eagle River is just one of many that you can race this sled at. I never got the opportunity to race Eagle River but I raced pretty much all over the place with it and put it at shows for people to see it. Now my first build is sitting at a museum in Wausau, Wisconsin where people will be able to see it. I think the reason that Al doesn’t want the measurements out there is because then he won’t be the only person making the money off the sleds & the customers for other sleds that he makes. The factory team made their engines from using what they had so the T7 cases is what they started with and built the rest what they had. So if ISR will allow you to use any Kawasaki engine 1982 an older great the IFS class rules are different from the leaf spring classes especially the super mod classes. I suppose I could’ve used a 1981 440 mono head for my engine but what I was more after was period correct what was close to factory as possible. The rules have changed quite a bit since I built my last 4 so what is best is contact ISR if that’s the sanction body that you plan on racing in or contact the organization that you want to race with and ask what they allow.

the information you packed into those two short posts was incredible, thankyou Sprocket! i messaged back and forth with Al and got a gist of what he was all about, maybe it was the disconnect caused by digital messaging, but he seemed to take offense to the idea that i wanted to make something that he had already made, either way, he was very knowledgeable and i respect his work a ton. He also heavily informed me that all of his chassis are perfectly legal and run at eagle river just fine... i don't know where the confusion on that is coming from, but that is neither here nor there. from what you were mentioning about trailing arm suspension, im a bit confused. From my research there isn't anything within the isr rules that prohibits that type of suspension and from researching recent years of people within the classes, there seems to be multiple sled with that style of suspension, i am probably missing something but i cant figure out what it is lol. I want to race in either "IFS sno-pro" or "IFS sno-pro X" just matters which one i can fit. as for motor, both of those classes allow for any motor, they are basically just cc limited, however, the coolness of this project imo comes from the "Kawasaki" name, thus i will be developing and building some 8 port motors for the sleds (if i can find some more cylinders) I recently designed and built a motor dyno, so this summer will be filled with testing and development on those motors, aiming for 115hp at-least, we will see what happens. From some people that ive talked to, i got some images of the original cylinders and some measurements too, they were 8 port and the crankcases look very interesting, a bit different the t7s i thought, but it might have been perspective. So far i have 7 or so different objects on the sleds, that i know the exact dimensions of. With these, i can calculate the distance away from the snowmobile that the picture was taken and use that measurement to figure out the dimensions of most other things within the pictures. what ive been looking for the most is a picture that includes the front of the hood and the tunnel all in one, with that i can pull a ton of measurements from the hood and start that design process. My goal is to create some blueprints that are to the exact dimensions of the sled, so that i can modify the chassis to my liking, modernization and safety, that fit within the rules based off of the "original" dimensions. in your opinion Sprocket, would you put the gas tank at the front of the sled or the middle? i was thinking middle for weight distribution and impact safety. thankyou again for all of your help ive been learning a ton over the last week or so.

If ISR would allow you to run any Kawasaki engine that would be great as long as it fits the rules you should be ok. In IFSX class you can run any engine only that class though. I know for a fact these sleds will not fit in a super stock class or a stock class only a mod or ifs, IFSX class
