78 intruder wont stay running

So I had my 78 intruder 440 running and riding 2 years ago.. been sitting for 2 years... got it back out fir this coming winter.. I cleaned the carbs and cleaned out the fuel tank. changed fuel lines and added new gas... It will start if I hold throttle wide open... let off the throttle to let sled idle and it will die... any thought will be appreciated.

There will be some plugged passages in the carbs. At the least the pilot system.
The best way to clean them is with an ultra sonic cleaner. I have also had good results soaking them in Pin-Sol

I wouldn't use 100% Pine-Sol on rubber......if it's well diluted you shouldn't have any issues...
100% Pine-Sol works really well on aluminum casings......just fully cover the part , let it sit for 1 day and brush off the dirt..

ultra sonic cleaning won't hurt the rubber.
I usually completely disassemble the carbs prior to cleaning

Those pesky plugged pilot jets do keep them from idling
Glad you got it running!
