so I decided to fully restore a 78 intruder 440.. I took it all the way apart to the point of removing the million rivets to separate the bulkhead from the tunnel. many pictures were taken to make sure I assemble it correctly.. many parts sand blasted and powder coated. Im starting to reassemble (new gaskets, seals, bearing, etc) and I have a few questions as far as alignment.. first question I have is with the jack shaft.... under the bearing support on the clutch side there were 3 shims under the support for each bolt when I dissasembled. the question I have is that are the shims used to make the shaft level? with the shims back in, there is pitch when I put the level on the shaft. the clutch side is higher than the chain case side. anyone have a spec or do I need to remove some shims to make it level?
p.s. pics to follow of the whole restore
