Drifter 340
« on: December 01, 2014, 02:17:12 PM »
Hi all,
Thought i would pass on some pics of my new to me 1981 drifter 340. In decent shape, hood good no cracks. Had been sitting at friends place for couple years, they rode it previous to that. No spark, and can't find any ignition coils listed anywhere on the net(for a 1981).

Welcome! That Drifter looks really nice. The hood looks like it's a 1980 model...'81 had dark blue hoods and I think Kawasaki only offered the '81 Drifter as the 440 model. Check for a sticker on the tunnel that will show month/year of manufacture...an '80 model should show a fall month in '79. If it is an '80 model you may have more luck finding parts. Good luck...looks like a great candidate for a nice rider.
75 SnoJet Astro SS, 79 Kawasaki Invader 440 (two of them), 81 Scorpion Sidewinder, 82 Blizzard 9500, 83 Yamaha Vmax 540, 97 MXZ 670....and holding...for now.

My bad, it is an 80. Hope to have it running soon, will be a great sled for around home. Nice to see some parts available. I believe the JD trailfire 340 had same engine as this.?
