Invader clutch
« on: February 06, 2015, 12:24:45 PM »
The clutch on my 79 340 Invader is noisy. Still works fine, but what normally causes this. I'm pretty good mechanically, but haven't messed with snowmobile clutches alot, other than replacing them. Almost forgot, it's the factory Kawasaki clutch.

Worn ramp bushings can make the primary a little noisy.  I've seen chipmunks put acorns in the clutch, that'll make some noise too.

Clean it extensively.  Basic tear-down is pretty easy and doesn't require special tools.  I've been soaking my clutch parts in a tub of hot water & dish soap, then using Alcohol and a scrub brush to clean them up without leaving any residue.  At that point anything worn out should be fairly obvious.

Also, I don't mean to hijack this thread, but am looking for Spring/Ramp specs (and parts) for an Invader 340.  I have been testing extensively the last week with a Comet 102 & Thunder Adjustable weights.  I would like to have a 'control' Kawi clutch to compare with.
