But kudos to the seller if he gets that.

If it truly is a "mint" original, I'd be willing to bet a box full of Interceptor pistons that he gets his asking price.  I've been offered more than that for my restored 81' Invader.  There's a few collectors out there willing to drop big bucks on the right sled.

Agree.     If the hood is MINT, the sled is worth that IMO.  There are plenty of beat up Invaders for less than $500, but VERY FEW near mint ones for any price.  I paid $1200 for mine in similar condition about five years ago.  The 81's are going up in value.

If repop decals (especially for the Invader hoods) were easy to find the value of the Invaders would drop.  Just my two cents!  I'd pay much more for a MINT Invader hood than an Interceptor hood...  The Interceptor hood is black and you can get decals for that one!

Wow, all good points, guys. I still see a fair number of '79 and '80 Invaders for sale....some fairly nice, some.. :( :(. not so good. Not very many '81's. The snowmobile biz was really starting to tank by 1981....and those '81's are cool as heck. Production #'s had to be way less for '81 models, I'm guessing.
I distinctly remember an '81 Invader for sale on Indianapolis Craigslist (bout an hour south of me) back in March or April of 2014....for $ 400 OBO. It looked to be in very nice shape...hood looked great, pleated seat looked perfect, and it was in running condition. Craigslist pics (heck, the entire ad) can be very deceiving, as we all know, but I was real close to pullin' the pin and going to look at it....but I didn't. :'(    Now ur makin' me feel bad... ;)
It was listed for 3 or 4 weeks, then it was gone...just like the song from the old "Hee-Haw" TV show...Buck Owens and the "Buckaroos". .."I searched the world over and thought I'd found true love, you met another, and "Poof" you were gone!"
Sorry, had a long day at work :-\. And, never mind, Tory, you're too young to remember that show, I'm sure....believe me, just as well. ::)...oh, well, no point in crying about "spilled milk".

I too remember that show.  The picture is my 81 at this year's Braapfest on the Friday trail ride.

  Ha, Ha. Good one, foxspoiler.
Tory, I'm surprised you remember Hee Haw. It seems it was on way back (in the Jurassic era) when I was in high school.....when there were 3 channels on the TV....ABC, CBS, and NBC. :o
I guess it continued in syndication for several years??..... :D :D
Best part of Hee Haw was the "Hee Haw Honeys"!
  Anyone remember "Nurse Goodbody"??
Way too much for a young, impressionable kid growin' up amongst the cornfields of Indiana. ;) ;) LOL
Anyway, I have seen some of your other pics, also, of your '81 Invader on here, Interceptor398....I'm green with envy. 8) 8)
Almost as impressive a design of the CHASSIS and graphics package as "Nurse Goodbody"....sorry, couldn't resist....  ;D
