Hello all I have a rear suspension that is two I hope the pics go on here it was supposedly a 1980 intruder skid to replace my 3 idler skid that came with my sled to say it lightly I'm not happy with the guy I got it from I won't mention any names! I don't fling mud at anyone but I'm tempted to. Heres to the pics. Hopefully I can find another skid hope my pics load.

That's all that will load but you can tell by the nubs that there's no carrier wheels above to raise the track because they're on the front arm. All that's on that arm are two metal loops on either side that aren't even close to the track to make a difference.

The skid I just pulled out of my invader only had the loops at the back and small idlers at the top in the front. The idlers were only about 3" in diameter. I could see it doing that if the upper idlers were too big. Is it possible to post a pic showing more or less the entire skid?

I see now, looking in my shop manual for the 79 Invader, they didn't have those 2 idler wheels on the rear arm like my 81 Intruder skid....just the steel loops.
Post some pics, if you can.

Here is a diagram that may help.

If the track tension is correct the track seldom needs the loops or idler wheels up top.

Yes but when the sled is running the nubs or something is ratcheting very loud the drive nubs I think are hitting on the back arm.

Are those studs? How new are the slides, I have seen when the back had not been trimmed enough so the clips were jumping the ends on their way up and around. A couple wild guesses!!

I could see the drive nubs, it was those little round spots that made me wonder about studs. If you put the rear on a stand and turn the track by hand you might find the rumble? Good Luck!!

In one photo I can see were the old white Hyfax melted down and is welded stuck to the steel track clips, Maybe that is making noise?

Hello I checked and pulled the skid today I trimmed off about 1.5" of the back if the hyfax that seemed to quiet the ratcheting but now the track is binding! I have looked at about six skids and none of them have the two metal rub clips on the back arm that swivels and they all have the small idlers on the back arm too. I'm going to look for a new skid with the correct set up thanks for now it will sit covered!
