78 invader Carb Questions.
« on: November 27, 2017, 07:49:07 AM »
Hello!  I have a few questions about adjusting my carbs. First air screw 1.5 turns off seat and idle screw 3 turns open sound right? Also while looking at my carburetors The throttle Pistons are not the same height? I would assume this is a problem correct? Thanks for any help.

They should be at the same height, and should start opening at the same time.  Check the throttle cable adjustment to make sure they aren't being held open, then adjust them so the both start to open at the exact same time.

Ok sounds good. Did the air and idle screw  adjustments sound right?  Thank you!

I'd have to look it up to be sure, but it sounds about right for a starting point.  I highly recommend buying or making a carb sync tool for the fine adjustment.

1978 Invader 440 used VM36 Econo jet carbs marked 36/60.  150 main jets,  pilot jet 30,  power jet 120 round reverse type, needle jet 6 DH4-3,  needle jet P6,  air screw @1 1/2 turns and idle screw @ 3 turns out for an idle speed of 3000rpm.
