1st Time Kawasaki Owner
« on: December 16, 2017, 07:51:39 PM »
Just picked this up on Thursday. I have several Arctic Cats and Scorpions but always wanted a Kawasaki. Previous owner said it is an Invader but I thought Invaders had the pop up head light and this does not, also said it was an 1981 but I think it's a 1980, because manufacture date is in 1979. A Couple things were going on with the one carburetor, no spring on the choke plunger and cheap needle and seat were not seating, kept flooding out. Taken care of now and seems to run great. Unfortunately, all the snow we had melted to slush so I wont be able to give it a real test drive for a while. Can anybody confirm whether this is an Invader or an Intruder. Found some goodies in the tools box too. Brand new to the site. Didn't know this site existed up until 4 days ago.

If you get us the serial number we can look it up. It's located on the tunnel.

1980 intruder , fan cooled are intruders and liquid cooled are invaders
If it had the black decals on the side it would be a 78-79  this one is a 80 and if it was dark blue is 81 and red was 82

You have a 1980 intruder. I see it a lot on craigslist that people don't even know the correct year of the sled that they are selling. To me they are not a true kawi lover.

LOL. As a matter of fact I just found one on Craigslist near me for $250.00. I posted the link in the classifieds here. Says it runs just needs some TLC. Thinking about it.  ;D

I just took my Intruder for the first ride. First time on a Kawasaki. I haven't ridden a great many sleds, Arctic Cat's, Ski Doo's but this is probably the finest riding sled I've been on so far. Easy to steer, can go in tight turns without wanting to tip over. Very solid feel to it. I think I found a new favorite sled.  :)

Well, I'm picking up an Invader on Saturday for $125.00. Top end is off and looks like it's been sitting that way for awhile. However, the guy is throwing in a spare engine he was going to put in it but never got around to it. Chassis looks good! When I get it home I'll get some pictures posted.

Here's some pictures. I haven't done anything to it. This is just how It was pulled out of the guys backyard. The engine is toast as you can see, but he gave me another that looks to be pretty good. A TC440A-E202. I beleive the sled is a 1978 because the model number is SS440-A.
