Carbides / Wear bars
« on: February 09, 2018, 06:13:32 AM »
Good Morning All,

Have my 79 340 Invader back together.
Replaced water pump and while engine out replaced crank seals.
Replaced bearings in idlers. Replaced wear strips and added tunnel protectors.
Drilled out spindle bushings to next size to reduce ski movement.
Cleaned carburetors.
Replaced fuel, Oil, and Pulse lines.
New belt.
Stock Kawasaki clutches.

This sled is for oval ice racing.
I will be adding ice picks to track.

Issue is that I would like to add 8" carbides.  All that I see available is 4". I am unsure if 4" will be adequate for the corners as I put 8" on my 74 TNT and it bites awesome.

I have been told to just drill out the skis for 8" carbides that are made for another sled.

I cannot run different skis without jumping classes and this is stock sled.

Your ideas and input would be greatly appreciated???

That's all I see also.  On the wear bars that come with 8 inches of carbide, is it 1 long piece?  I may be able to make some up but cannot do it right away.

Yes, I believe it is 1 piece of carbide applied centered below spindle.  I will look at the TNT.  It might have 10".
