headlight
« on: March 10, 2018, 08:48:12 AM »
So if I disconnect the headlight and run, will this mess up any of the rest of electrical? The reason I"am asking is, I purchased a headlight cover from chattanooga fiberglass, to put on. Going on 78 Invader.

Should not be a problem.  It would be the same and running the sled with the key in the "lights off"  position.

Along those same lines, I read in the service manual to not run one that has an electric starter without a battery. But mine hasn't had a battery since I got it and it runs fine. In fact the previous owner said he had taken the battery out a few years ago. Am I damaging anything?

Check  your voltage regulator.  If you have the electric start regulator then you have been very lucky.  If the regulator has been changed to a non-electric version that would  explain why the lights work with no battery.
