Hello everyone,
Does anyone know the difference between the speedometer adapter keys between a 79 and an 80 Invader?  I need the 3503 for an 80, but have only been able to get a 3501 for a 79. I am guessing there is a length difference between the two keys.  Anyone know?

Thanks much!  The posts here have been really helpful!

Are you talking about the adapter?   or the drive key?  The drive keys are different lengths.

The adapters turn the opposite directions.  Kawasaki switched the side that the speedometer drove off. So unfortunately they are very different.

Thanks for replying!  I'm talking about the drive key.  You mention they are different lengths.  Do you happen to know what the lengths are?  I have the drive key for a 79.  Hoping I can use it on the 80??

Wondering if someone may have a 39072-3503 key available to measure its length?  I just measured the 39072-3501 key and found it to be 2 9/16".  I'm hoping I can use this key in my 1980 Invader Speedo instead of the 39072-3503 identified in the parts book.

I have a drive key on the way, I don't know the part number but I'll let you know what the deal is once it arrives.
It's for my 1980

I'm not positive the one that I sent was out of an 80'.  I thought they were all the same?  If it turns out that it doesn't work for you I will send you a refund.

I do have a few NOS ones that are still in the bags.  I will check the part numbers and lengths when I get a chance.

The one I have is 2 1/4"...so shorter than the one you have in that pic.
It seems like its the correct length.

Thank you for that information!  Exactly what I was hoping for.  Just for the groups information, I was able to fit the 39072-3501 key into the 1980.  I may cut it down slightly considering the 3503 key is only 2 1/4".  I appreciate the help!
