Drifter 340 to 440 conversion
« on: March 09, 2020, 03:03:07 AM »
My father in law just picked up a 1978/79 340 drifter but he wants to convert it to a 440. He was told by someone he knows that the bottom end of the 340 and the 440 are the same, anyone know if this is true? Also, I have a 1980 440 Drifter that I rebuilt this winter and I raced it in our town's annual vintage snowmobile races, I came in 4th out of 14th, which I felt was really good considering I'd never raced before (rode all my life), and I was on a 1980 and the class of sleds was 1980 to 1989, I was really proud of how fast that drifter was, but I want to try and get a little bit of an advantage for next year but all I can figure I can do to modify it so it's faster is a clutch kit, is this my only option to increase it's performance? Thanks in advance
