Its custom. I lowered the sled by cutting the spindle housing 1 3/8 off the bottom than cut and welded the spindle shorter, and turned it down, I only did one so far, to make sure that it would work. You also have to modify the belly-pan a little, but it clears everywhere else. In theory, it puts the engine farther over the front skis and shortens the "wheelbase" while taking the center of mass down in the front. My goal is to put more pressure on the skis for turning and also hopefully reduce the need for ski spreaders for stabilization. We'll see if this works or not, the changes are pretty small to guarantee anything but it will at least look cooler being lower (: (the reason I don't just switch to race skis, besides the price, it removes me from a class that I would be competitive in and gives me less time on the ice)

Very interesting!  I'm not a fan of ski spreaders, but do think the sleds need to be wider.  I have thought about widening the bulkhead on my Invader and using an Interceptor belly pan to widen the stance.

43 years of grime now all gone. Crazy to think that this sled has been around twice as long as I have

They are considerably wider, maybe 3 or 4 inches?  I'm not certain on the exact measurement.

Invaders are 31 inches wide and Interceptors are 34 inches wide.

I used acrylic based automotive paint, on top of self etching primer. About 3 coats of each

I decided to redo the tunnel. After the paint post, I accidentally dropped a wrench on the front of the tunnel and flaked the paint. This showed me how fragile this type of painting process was on aluminum. So I sat there for about 4 hours getting all of the paint off of the aluminum with paint stripper and a razer blade. I then wet sanded the entire tunnel with 400 grit, then 800 grit, then 1000, then 1500 and then polished it all. The running boards are all that are left and I haven't decided whether to polish them or brush them, lemme know what yall think I should do there.
