I know the cdi has an advance of 22*
so there must be another sleds cdi I can use that uses a seperate coil?
i mean will be some funky wiring but should be do able.
just not sure where to look.

What publication did you get the 22* from.  A picture of the unit and it's connector might help.  I suspect that sometimes the only difference between units is the connector.

this sleds ignition is unique because the ignition coil and cdi are in the same unit.  I think they must have realized soon after that it would be better to separate them for replacment.  If the sled was from 79 I believe it had points , and in 82 they seperated the coil from the cdi and there seems to be alot of replacement options from there on......

If someone  can help me  get this licked and figure out what the modified options are I know it will help more than just me.  I came across an add on kijiji looking for a cdi/coil for this year drifter as well :)

I ordered a cdi and coil for a 440,  see what happens!
I changed out the stator with another I had just to be sure,
It fired right up and left me stranded 10 min later,  then after it cooled down spark came back,
rode it back to the shop .
next day no spark again.
ill let you know if the 440 rig works.:)
