Alternate options for non existent coil/cdi drifter 340

Hello all
Can’t find a replacement for my coil/cdi for a 1980 drifter 340
Does anyone know if there is another system I can put on fairly easily from another sled that’s is more available?

Thanks
T

The PN for that is 21049-3002 "coil exciter" which is for SA340 A4 and SC340 A1 with is the same as the 340 F/A sled.  Funny thing in that the 1980 Invader and Intruders is PN 21049-3002.  They should be out there some place.  Hope this helps. ;D

i think the PN you provided may be for an exciter coil,
the part im looking for is the ignition coil/cdi combination.
let me know your thoughts

thanks for your time

I am finding a conflict in my books, here is what I found.  1st 2 pics are from the parts book for that sled. 3rd pic is from the 1980 retail price guide and the last one is from a 1989 retail price guide.

That should be interesting.  Just to help make sure we are talking apples and apples here, does the motor still have it's tag and if you look at the parts diagram in the first picture what is the item number of the part you are after?  Thanks

I did not get a look at numbers today.
I will tmr.
Got spark again.
Took it out and 10 min later no sparky.
Ugh .....
Hope it’s not the stator.
I don’t believe so because even when I do t get spark I still have good resistance values
And ac voltage from stator.
But it could be intermittent I suppose.
🤦🏽🤷🏽‍♂️

This sled has a kill switch?  Maybe it is just a bad connection someplace???

As far as understand.
When the electrical connection from the harness is unplugged from the cdi/ stator
It takes the kill switch and the key and lights out of the equation
The sled will still run.
I have tested that theory
When the sled is running I can unplug the harness and the sled still runs and turning the kill switch on and off has no effect.
Plug the harness back in and the switch will kill the sled.
So this is not a kill switch prob.

OK.  I did a little more digging in a 1984 parts retail price guide.  It shows a substitute for 21049-3002 as 21003-3007 and a key model of SC340-A2 . The SC340-A2 was maybe a 2nd free air model that never got off the drawing board??     I then looked in the parts book for the 81 Drifter and it shows 21049-3002 for both 340 and 440 sleds.  21049-3002 also was used on 81 Intruder  ST440-A4.   Not sure if this might help??

21119-3006 has a substitute PN of 21119-3023 but I have yet to find what the 21119-3023 was used in.

Argggggg!

A nice bit of research.

Invaders:   1980 440
Projects:    1981 Invader 440

My eyes were starting to get crossed near the end of that digging.  The SC340-A2 is a very intriguing find.

ya the part numbers 21049 are for the coil in the stator,
I am looking for the
21119 parts which are the ignition coil/cdi.
the guy in czec republic hasnt gotten back to me to accept payment to make the cdi yet so will see if it pans out.
i appreciate all your effort!
thanks for trying to help me keep this sled alive :)
