4/6 cooling methods

Anybody used a standard 440 invader radiator to cool a 4/6 mono head?

The 4/6 didn’t have a mono head.  But the interceptor used the same radiator as the Invader, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work on any of the LTD’s

I have heard of it being done,  but have not done it myself.  If memory serves correct, Checkmarks built a sled this way.

Good point!

I believe the LTD was designed to be a two-up high performance trail rider that could be ridden at slower speeds with more weight and would require additional cooling capacity.  If you don't plan on using it in these extreme conditions, you won't have a problem.

Also need to consider that the radiator is only part of the cooling system. IMO the heat exchanger dissipates more heat, especially at lower speeds than the radiator. The 78 Invader had the smallest heat exchanger, 79 and up were longer. The LTD and Ceptors had a much larger exchanger and location moved to the back of the tunnel where the snow hits it more. The 78 lives up to the "hottest thing on snow".

This is very true.  I always think of it as the heat exchanger cools when in deeper snow at slower speeds and the radiator does the cooling at higher speeds on hard pack and ice. 

The 78 and 79's had the same size heat exchangers, they didn't increase the size until 80.  My 79 Invader always ran a little warmer and the temp varied noticeably more than my 81 Invader.
