Scraping the Bottom of the Barrel
« on: March 07, 2022, 06:08:26 PM »
Looking to put together another pair of skis for the 82 Intruder.  We have three that sort of match, but each one has issues.  The best of the three has a kink in the front loop.  I can probably live with that.  The second best has a different style loop and a few holes in the underside just about where the ski starts to curl up off the ground. The third has a great front loop but looks like swiss cheese on the bottom.  I want to try to avoid buying another sled just to get a ski.

Can you weld?  You may be able to remove the ski loop from the battered ski and replace the one with a kink in it?

Those look like 81' Invader or 81-82 LTD skis.  Were they the same as the 82' Intruder?  I thought they had wider and taller springs than the Intruders?

I do have a MIG, but I don't consider myself an artistic welder.  Yes, I do believe that these came off of one or more LTD.  All of our Intruder skis look worse.

The LTD ski's will be taller...Sounds like a great reason to buy another sled!

You guys are forgetting that I have to clean-out my storage space.  I have a 24 x 60 building dedicated to the sleds.  They are all going to need to find a new location.  And, since i don't have comparable available space, that means much of it will need to go to a new home.

You don't really think that story will work???  Or maybe go to a swap with wrenches and only take home the stuff you need???
