Mounting a P85 on a 1980 340 drifter
« on: January 10, 2025, 10:58:12 PM »
Hey Everyone,

I have been trying to find info on if I can mount a Polaris P-85 primary on my 1980 340 Drifter. I know there are the comet alternatives to the Hex clutch but I would low to know if anyone has ever mounted the P-85 on these sleds. I have read a couple posts about people that have done this on the invaders. Would just really like the parts and tuning availability of the p85. Especially given that I am a Polaris tech with easy parts access.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the site!!  I have never attempted this but have heard of it.  Maybe someone here has some help for you.

I’m running p85s on my Invaders, they work extremely well.  Not sure on the fitment on a Drifter, do they use the 30mm taper?  I know that you need to be careful which p85 you use on the Invaders because of the back spacing, some p85s will hit the engine mount….  You would also need to run a Polaris secondary to match the p85.

Good luck!
