Has anyone seen this before?
« on: December 12, 2013, 06:16:43 PM »
Ok, last year I posted on this sled I found and purchased on an online auction. I was moving it from one shed to another and (my son had robbed some suspension stuff off from it so the two rear bolts were out) the suspension extended down, low and behold I see it says "Proto" on the underside tunnel. Like I said last year there is no serial# , no marks on tunnel at all ,and the tunnel decal is "GT" bronze laid over a "1982" red and black tunnel decal. Interesting , lets hear some feed back. Joel

It has the eight port Ltd engine in it, although would be a more exciting find if it had the 530 top end on it. :) Joel

I keep thinking I am going to find something "cool" like that due largely in part to the fact that I am an hour from the plant in Lincoln but the only thing I got so far is a Drifter that was property of Goodyear Tire Co. for the Plant Mgr. to take from building to building..........

The cooling pad appears to be the same as Ltd. This sled was last trail registered in 2001 in Minnesota. How else would one keep tracking backwards for more info? Joel

I ran across this page.  It seem to be referring to your sled.  1983 Prototype.

Hi Joel,  Well, it wouldn't be too difficult to tell if your GT had an Interceptor top end!  From what I've seen and read, very few (if any) changes were made from year to year...   Considering model updates for 83' Protos were limited  on other models (decal colors and related bling) I'd be surprised to see any substantial differences from production 81-82 & 83 Proto LTD's.  It's a cool find for sure...  too bad Kawi didn't install their IFS on that bad boy!  Tell your boy not to rob any more parts off it!!  Lol.      Tory

By the way, Jay Carsley lives 1/2 hr from me...  he has one of the Tournament of Champions sleds.  I've been to his shop...  we've done a few shows together.  He is not involved with Kawasaki much (or sleds in general for that matter) anymore.  I've got my eye on that TOC sled, but I don't think my wallet will approve. ???

Photo came from Jay Carsley when I originally set up the site.  I know the site needs some serious updating that maybe I'll be able to get around to one of these years lol.
