78 440 intruder modifications
« on: January 26, 2014, 09:04:50 PM »
Stripping the sled down for a vintage race sled for fun everything is basically ruined but the engine and clutches. No tank all the wires are cracked and rotted. The carbs are basically parts.
Plans: anybody run the Invader 36mm carbs or Liquifire 34mm carbs in place of the 32mm carbs? Plan on making a long tube 2-1 or twin pipes. Strip the sled down to the bare minimum just to keep it running. I understand you need a air box for the powerjet carbs if you run them. Port and polish intakes and exhaust. The clearance between the piston and head is .065-.070 can I mill the head to add compression and run 100 octane. I'm running the sled at 7,500-8000 feet. We have 3 events to race in: 100 yard banked oval, 150 yard drag race, and a 1/8 mile oval. All these races are for fun only rules are 1980 or older air cooled sleds. Stock suspension no idea how to set it up for each event.

Any speed secrets?
