removing rear wheels

I'm disassembling my rear skid to fix cracked brackets. Can anyone enlighten me as to a good way to remove the rear wheels from their axle? Mine do not want to slide off the shaft.  Thanks. 1978 invader.

sometimes the aluminum oxidizes a bit.  They wheels are only held on by plastic sleeves, so there is not very much to hold them in place.  What I have done is supported the wheel in a vice very close with the vice jaws tight in to the shaft and then drive the shaft out.

Clean up the shaft and lube it before you start driving it out.  Use a rubber hammer if you have one.

Thanks gentlemen.  After getting one wheel off, I was able to drive the shaft out.

We have a seized cross shaft! Yipee. The short 8 inch one (39116-3501).

Well I have tried all the non-destructive approaches. No luck. I am drilling out most of it put and will remove the last little bit with a muriatic acid bath.

After drilling a 1/2 inch hole all the way through the aluminum shaft, submerging the remainder in 1L of muriatic acid for a couple hours dissolved the remainder. Does anyone have an extra shaft 39116-3501 they could part with? Thanks.
