1979 440 Drifter Clutch
« on: December 31, 2016, 07:19:55 AM »
Looking for any tips on the bolt size needed to remove my clutch using the "fill the void with grease/oil" method.  Markings on the clutch indicate:  John Deere, Comet Mod. 100 C-P.

I found:
-9/16 fine 18 tpi, and
-3/4 fine 16 tpi

and now unsure...

I know nothing about a John Deere clutch, but maybe someone else on here does.

I don't know about that clutch for sure, either.....but, the vast majority (not all) Comet's use the 3/4 inch  16 tpi.
75 SnoJet Astro SS, 79 Kawasaki Invader 440 (two of them), 81 Scorpion Sidewinder, 82 Blizzard 9500, 83 Yamaha Vmax 540, 97 MXZ 670....and holding...for now.

Thanks guys.  Next stop Lowes with the engine in a box.  Heavy bugger, hope their carts can take it!
