We had 5 inches of the white stuff on the ground Friday morning.  It's gone now, but was exciting while it lasted!

I am impressed.  We barely made it to October before firing the boiler.

Friday must have been an exciting morning.  There are rumors of a few inches here later this week.

Didn't think that I had much to do on this sled - just change the fuel needles that didn't seem to be fully seating at the end of last season.  Found that my fuel lines were cracked and leaking.  I must be using the wrong fuel line.

Are there any fuel lines that work for more than 5 years?

I've been using Tygon fuel line. More expensive but seems to last forever.

Stainless steel in the tank, brilliant Sproket.  If a plane flies upside down that hose in the tank with the brass clunk heads for gravity and the plane keeps flying.  On a sled, if your upside down, your not driving anywhere.

Hard pipe to the fuel pump.  Hard line to somewhere near the carb ports.  Last a short piece of Tygon from hard line to carb.

Damned alcohol, except in my shot glass.

Heavy, wet snow has been falling since 10:00 AM yesterday.  It has amounted to about 8 inches stuff that does not want to plow or blow.  Never had to work so hard to clear the driveway before.

But the good news is that my upstate stomping grounds picked up about 18 inches.  Bodes well for an early start to the season.

Uhg. We got a ton of snow but then got a bunch of rain and now the entirety of south eastern south dakota is just a flat plain of ice.

not a huge deal because my sleds are all still in my dad's shop 2.5 hours north of me any ways... I need to quit forking around being poor so I can buy a decent trailer. Or alternatively a decent lot with my own shop lmao.

We didn't have a sled trailer until recently.  It opened up a new world of possibilities for us.  It was an open trailer and we had to plan our trips for days the roads were clear. Gave up on that and added a SnoCap this year.

This afternoon's photo from the top of the hill.

This is the 78 that has been topping out at 50 mph.  We dropped from 150 mains to 145.  Still need to get out on the lake to see if that change has made any difference.
